The Stanford Club of Austin (Stanford/Austin), an extension of the Stanford Alumni Association, has created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to our members' privacy. The following discloses our information gathering and usage practices.
Stanford/Austin does not sell or rent your personal identification to third parties.
We release account and other personal information only when we believe release is appropriate to comply with law; enforce or apply our Terms of Use and other agreements; or protect the rights, property, or safety of Stanford/Austin members, our users, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations.
Email
It is the policy of Stanford/Austin to send our members only the types of email they elect to receive in addition to Stanford/Austin customary business communications (address confirmation, renewal notifications, etc.)
We do use email as a means of receiving feedback from our members, and we encourage you to email the Webmaster with your questions or comments.
Membership Registration
Our organization's registration form requires you to provide us contact information (name, address, and email address). Phone number(s) can be added by you, as well as Stanford Degree and other personal information. Stanford/Austin does disclose some information to Stanford/Austin members, but does not disclose any of your personal information to non-members. Furthermore, Stanford/Austin offers you the ability to "hide" certain information from other Stanford/Austin members, including: address, your email address, any phone, cellphone, fax, or pager number, and the year of any degree you choose to enter. If you choose to hide any of these individual pieces of personal information, the information will not appear on other Stanford/Austin members who view your Public Profile, but remains available to Austin/Stanford officers and site administrators.
This addtional profile data is collected at our site to provide to other Stanford/Austin members who may wish to contact you. In addition, Stanford/Austin may use this information for mailings or e-mailings or nametags at events.
Updating Your Personal Information
Stanford/Austin provides you with ways in which you can alter the personal data listed below. To make these changes, please log in and click the "My Profile" button. Once you have made the desired changes, click the "Update" button to lock in your changes. Follow the directions below to make changes to your personal information.
You have the ability to change or correct the following information yourself:
- Your First and Last Name
- Your Postal Address
- Your Postal Address Hide Choice
- Your Email Address
- Your Email Address Hide Choice
- Your Password
- Your Phone / Fax / Cellphone / Pager numbers (Max 5)
- Each Phone / Fax / Cellphone / Pager number Hide choice
- Your Stanford Degrees (Max 4)
- Your Stanford Degree Majors
- Your Stanford Degree Years
- Your Stanford Degree Year Hide Choice
If you wish to Hide your Stanford Degree or Phone Contact information altogether, you may delete the degree or number from your profile.
If you wish to change information in the Stanford Degree or Contact Number sections, delete the current entry and add a new entry.
If you have questions about changing or correcting your information, contact the site Webmaster.
The Security of Your Information
We take reasonable precautions to protect the security of your personal information. Your data is kept in a secure environment protected from access by unauthorized parties. It is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your password and to your computer by ensuring you logoff when finished visiting Stanford/Austin using a shared computer.
Cookies
Cookies are small pieces of information that are stored in a browser-related file on your computer's hard drive when you use our Web site. We use temporary cookies as a part of our site navigation. Cookies are widely used on most major Web sites.
IP Address
Like most Internet sites, we use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server, and to administer our Web site. Your IP address is also used to gather broad demographic information. This information is distributed to current and potential advertisers, but only in aggregate form. It does not contain information that identifies individual members.
Membership Removal
If you wish to have your registration removed from our directory for any reason, please contact the site Webmaster.
Advertising and Third Party Links
Stanford/Austin does not have advertisers.
Stanford/Austin may contain non-advertising links to third party sites which we feel are of interest to our members or to enhance the member experience. Stanford/Austin has no control of either the content or privacy policies of such sites, nor should such links be considered an endorsement of these sites except where otherwise noted.
Children
Protecting the privacy of the young is especially important to Stanford/Austin. For that reason, we never collect or maintain information at our Web site from those we actually know are under 13, and no part of our Web site is intended for use by those under 13.
Updates to our information practices
From time to time, we make changes to our information practices or alter the functionality of our Web site. We always update this statement accordingly, so we encourage you to periodically review this page for the latest information on privacy practices at Stanford/Austin.
